Hugo Cabret

I recently started working on a new production: The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I’m doing previz concept art for the movie, which is an adaptation of a Brian Selznick novel. This is Martin Scorcese’s first 3D movie. The story takes the cast back in 1930s Paris, France, where the story centers on a 12-year old orphan named Hugo who lives in a train station and is still dedicated to his late father’s ambition to solve the mystery of a broken automaton. This is shot in real 3D and not one of those horrible 3D conversion. It was shot on Arri’s Alexa with Cooke 5/i Prime lenses (for the film geeks out there.) This is the first major 3d movie to be shot with Alexa. Like Ben Kingsley recently revealed in an interview, “Hugo Cabret is Marty’s 3D examination of the early days of cinema. It couldn’t get better than that.” The film, which also stars Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen and Chloe Moretz is due to be released this November.
